Competition heating up

Tuesday’s edition of the Ennis Public Library’s Summer Reading Program started off with a spirited energy you might find between friends on Superbowl Sunday.
Children participating in Ennis Public Library’s Summer Reading Program have already passed the number of minutes read by this time last year, and each time they meet there is a feeling of friendly competition.

Reading minutes for grades K-6 are piling high after only two weeks of the program. Kindergarten has 4,840 minutes, first grade recorded 5,000 minutes, second and third are gunning for each other with 6,510 and 6,710 minutes respectively. Also on a reading mission is fourth grade with 4,820 minutes, fifth grade holding 2,430 minutes and sixth grade adding 2,520 minutes to the mix. This brings the total minutes read after only two weeks to 32,830.
