AVID starting year 4

With colleges and universities upping their standards for admission every year, students are continually trying to raise the bar to make sure they’ll have a place in higher education.
One program that is gearing students toward that mentality is EISD’s AVID. AVID, or Advancement Via Individual Determination, is an in-school academic support program for grades 4-12 that prepares students for college eligibility and success. Curriculum Director Brian Fry said AVID is meant to pave the way to college acceptance for children and provide them with the tools to succeed once they’re there.

The district is starting their fourth year with the program and it currently serves the entire student population of grades 4-6. Children also apply and are accepted to the program in grades seven through 11.
