Kidnapper pleads guilty

More than a year after his arrest, an Ohio man has pleaded guilty to kidnapping an Ennis Junior High School student in September 2009.
Brandon Fox, 25, accepted a plea bargain that includes a 20-year sentence for aggravated kidnapping on Monday, the day his trial was set to begin in 40th Judicial District Court. He will not be eligible for parole until he has served at least 10 years, said Assistant District Attorney Lindy Tober, the prosecutor charged with handling the juvenile kidnapping case. Once released, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, Tober said.

Fox took several weeks to consider the plea agreement, initially turning the offer down earlier this month. Video and audio recordings from Fox’s arrest by the Ennis Police Department were cleared for trial on the same day his defense initially rebuffed that plea agreement, Tober said.
