Pitts draws Tea Party ire

In a meeting room reserved by the Ellis County Tea Party at the La Quinta Inn in Waxahachie on Saturday night, about 75 people gathered to listen to, and exchange thoughts with State Rep. Jim Pitts.
The first half hour of the meeting was given to Pitts, R-Waxahachie, who discussed a variety of topics regarding the upcoming Congressional session in Austin, and party members began grilling the representative soon after.

He discussed the fact that the House was now comprised of 99 Republicans and 51 Democrats and that he thought getting the conservative policies in place would be much easier to do now than when the House was divided with 76 Republicans and 74 Democrats. He also touched on issues such as the budget, redistricting, voter ID, Medicaid, immigration reform and his support for embattled current House Speaker Joe Straus.
