Ennis man hit by truck

Det. Lt. Ron Roark said Luis Sandoval, 79, of Ennis is recovering and is expected to survive after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., police report Sandoval was walking west in the 1200 block of W. Bardwell Drive when a Ford pickup knocked the man to the shoulder of the roadway. Roark said Sandoval was headed home to the senior citizens’ apartments across from Ennis High School.
Sandoval was transported to Ennis Regional Medical Center where he was then flown to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.
Roark said it was originally reported Sandoval was walking in the middle of the roadway, but after speaking with witnesses it has been determined Sandoval was in the westbound lane.
Roark said charges relating to the accident have not been filed against the driver, William Christopher Griffin, 35, of Ennis, but he was arrested for driving with an invalid license and no insurance.
