No. 10 Avalon crushes Mt. Calm, 19-0

Five players drove in two runs apiece as No. 10 ranked Avalon quickly dispatched Mount Calm, 19-0, to advance to the regional quarterfinals this week. Shortstop Rhett Newton, a junior, led the way with three hits, two of them doubles, in three trips to the plate and had two RBI. He also registered three steals. Dillon Martin, who bats leadoff, was 2-for-2 with a pair of ribbies, while the Big Bopper, senior Clayton Hopgood, had one hit, two RBI and scored thrice.
