Banker bags 400

Coach Glenn Banker gives a postgame speech earlier in the season. Second year softball coach Ennis, Glenn Banker, has been around a long time. While he is known for his straight face humor, his knowledge of the game and an ability to get the most of his players has produced an amazing number of wins. When the Lady Lions crushed Nacogdoches on April 6, he reached a mile-marker for coaches in his craft. Like a banker, the victory added up to his 400th in twenty-one years as a head coach. That places him at No. 31 in the state of Texas. That averages nearly 20 wins per year. Banker began his coaching career at nearby Kaufman, and has held the reins at Dallas Hillcrest, Ft. Worth North Side, Greenville and a few places in between. His stint with the North Side Steers was particularly successful. The Dallas Morning News reported that his eight years at Hillcrest witnessed the Panthers become one of the best in the DISD while going 142-50 and making the playoffs every season.
