Baseball Lions open season in SGP

Kade Graff, right, and Wesley Caldwell (15) celebrate a 1-0 win at Corsicana last spring. Graff is the team captain and starting shortstop. Talented centerfielder Chris McDonald is a triple threat – batting, running and with his glove. Here he scores in a playoff game versus Bryan last year. Just as hope springs eternal, so every baseball teams has its share of optimism in February and March that this will be their year. Ennis and area ballclubs would like to just take the field after weeks of early rains have made fields unplayable. Ennis, 18-14 last year, has had two weeks of scrimmages and games washed away. They are set to finally commence play at the Warrior Classic in Grand Prairie this week, March 1-3. The Lions play twice on Thursday (2:30 p.m. vs. Lake Highlands, 5 p.m. vs. Lubbock Monterey) and Friday and once on Saturday. Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News.
