Bell, Esparza shine in Lady Lions triumph

Sarah Bell makes one of several saves, this one diving, while protecting a 1-0 lead. Sarah Bell, a 5’6 junior netminder, was credited with a clean sheet between the pipes on Friday and senior forward Jazmin Esparza scored the lone goal in a 1-0 triumph over Cleburne. Ennis grabbed an early lead, just five minutes into the match, then held off the Yellow Jackets the rest of the game. Esparza deflected a pass from a defender, and then dribbled into space to create a scoring opportunity. She fired from 15-yards out on the left hash mark, beating the goalie in the right corner. “It landed inside the right post,” said Head Coach Eric Chmelar. “The keeper didn’t get a hand on it either.” Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News.
