Big plays highlight Lions scrimmage

After a hard day’s night the labor of two Class 5A heavyweights, No. 3 Ennis and No. 5 Longview punched out and headed home. The Lobos held a one touchdown advantage after nearly three hours of competition, though both teams ended the scrimmage pleased with their effort and most of the results.

In a variety of controlled settings the teams’ first and second stringers banged heads and matched wits in what Ennis head coach Jack Alvarez refers to as a practice. There were a total of nine touchdowns scored, five of them by the green-clad hosts.
