Biggest games fill 11 football Fridays

Coaches and fans alike see football schedules and circle the must-see games. They usually include arch-rivals, showdowns and sometimes, even payback games.

Fans remember previous encounters from years past, while coaches strategize plans for navigating the games deemed must-win contests. Some are early season non-district games that often prove teams’ readiness for bigger games to come. Still others determine eventual playoff berths and district championships.

The Ennis Daily News selected 15 games by area teams ranging from Class 6A to six-man football. Ennis has four games on the list, three of them on the road. Palmer, Waxahachie, Corsicana Mildred and Life Red Oak appear twice.

The defending champion Lions open the season facing a murderer’s row of three consecutive standout QBs; Timberview’s Devin Williams (23 TD passes as a junior), Guyer’s Shawn Robinson (33 TDP) and Waxahachie’s Jordan Kitna (55 TDP).

For the most part, one game per date was chosen, and they’re listed chronologically. The sure-fire list of dates to be circled in red include:
