Bye week timely for Palmer


Considering the inclement weather this weekend, unbeaten Palmer (2-0) had a timely bye week following a physical, hard-fought, 22-13 road win last week at Millsap. Next Friday they entertain Rice for homecoming, and Head Coach Don Waddle is pleased the way his team has performed to date. They routed a young Italy team, 60-6, before their trip to Grand Saline was washed out on Sept. 7. The Bulldogs then traveled nearly two hours to west of Weatherford to face a stout Millsap team. “It wasn’t a pretty game,” Waddle said. “Both teams ground it out and had to earn everything they got. “We weren’t playing our best, but played hard enough and stayed positive.
