EHS bass team starts Sept. 22


Months of recruiting and fund raising have led the Ennis High School bass team to within a week of their first-ever tournament, which will take place on Saturday, Sept. 22, at Lake Ray Hubbard in Rockwall. “The kids have put a lot of work into it, and they are really excited.” Said coach and sponsor Tommy Copeland, a physics teacher on Campus. “We have 10 two-person teams competing in our first tournament.” Events usually begin at 6:30 a.m., with teams due back by 4p.m. Rules of competition involve the number of bass and the total pounds of bass caught above the minimum size. A team consists of two anglers and a boat captain, who are likely related: parents, grandparents, or area locals who just to help young men or women fish.
