Bardwell Bad Boy signs to play tennis

Erdmann signing with Coach Speegle. Described as the Bardwell Bad Boy by Head Coach Keith Howard, Ennis senior tennis player Ben Erdmann is quite the opposite. Unless you’re taking the court against him. At 5’9 and 140-pounds, he is not physically intimidating. Rather than overpower his opponents he counter-punches them to death. Tennis aficionados describe his style as a grinder. In excellent shape, he outlasts and outplays some very skilled foes. A right-handed hard-hitter, he outplays them too. A year ago he advanced to state, a rare feat, even for powerhouse Ennis. He had a 17-1 record as a junior and is 9-1 to date this spring. His only losses have come against Red Oak’s Jered Wilson, a junior. Erdmann will likely get another shot at him, either at the district tournament or perhaps later at state. Their familiar styles compliment each other. Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News. Be informed, subscribe today!.
