Ennis Lions Tennis / Varsity Madness Tournament

Mixed Pairs was also dominated by Ennis, who won the top two places. Ella Goedrich and Zach Crockett (left) won first place, while second place went to Jacob Beltran and Amanda Almanza. Five area high schools competed in the annual Varsity Madness tournament at th Ennis Tennis Center, including the host Lions, Class 5A Midlothian, Class 6A South Grand Prairie, Class 6A Richardson Berkner and Class 6A Pasadena Sam Rayburn. Ennis, annually ranked among the best in the state, had their share of success against a tough field of rackets, winning singles titles in both boys and girls. “I’m just excited to see how the players are progressing,” said veteran Head Coach Keith Howard, who has won 15 district championships. “We keep preaching you have to trust the process and “Embrace the Struggle.” The kids are buying in and I think the results are showing it.” Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News.
