Fumbles, flags are thorns in Ennis setback

Mark Warde

No. 14 Ennis lost three fumbles, including one on the first play of the game, and John Tyler redeemed each gift with a touchdown in a 40-29 triumph at the Rose Stadium in East Texas.
It was the third loss of the season for Team Maroon, all on the road, and each saw significant officiating issues that proved equally costly.
The setback dropped the Lions to 4-3 overall, the same mark the hosts have, though JT is peaking with their fourth straight win. Ennis is now 3-1 in District 16-5A while the blue-cladded Lions are atop the league with a 4-0 mark.
It was the first district loss for Ennis since the end of the 2012 season. The Jungle Kings had won 17 league games in succession until Friday night.
