Ennis’ Erdmann ready for state tennis

Ennis junior Ben Erdmann will serve it up at 8 a.m. on Thursday in College Station, site of the 2018 UIL state tennis tournament. He is one of eight players vying for the Class 5A crown. The George P. Mitchell Tennis Center and the Omar Smith Intramural Tennis Center will be the playing sites on the campus of Texas A&M University. “I am physically and emotionally ready,” he said on Tuesday. “I am really ready and anxious to get this long wait over,” he said of the near month-long gap between the University Interscholastic League regional tournament and the May 17-18 state event. About playing at 8 a.m., which he said is not his favorite, he said he loves early mornings. “I wake up around 5 a.m. anyway,” he said, “but my body is not full awake for awhile. But I will be ready.” Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News. Be informed, subscribe today!
