Ennis JV netters get off to 3-1 start

Winning their first three matches before falling in the finals in the Fairfield Golden Chick tournament, Ennis capped an impressive start to the 2018 junior varsity volleyball season. Second year head coach Anjeannette Robinson-Mays led the JV to a second place finish at the event that had 16 teams competing. The Lady Lions devoured a pair of Class 4A schools, Madisonville in straight sets, 25-8 and 25-6, and then Salado, also in two games, 25-15 and 25-20. Corsicana, 21-12 last year and a Class 5A district rival, offered measureable resistance. The best of three game series saw the Lady Lions win the first set, 25-19, before the Lady Tigers evened things with a 25-22 win. Ennis bounced back to win the rubber match, 25-20.
