Ennis-Nac hoops showdown tonight at home

Tiana Murray-Lewis (31), shown here shooting a free throw on Friday, led the Lady Lions with 15 points in the 59-9 rout of the Lady Cats. Much-anticipated, the girls basketball game between front-running District 17-5A leaders Ennis and Nacogdoches, was postponed on Tuesday due to weather conditions. It will be played tonight, Jan. 17, at 6 p.m. at the Ensign Gym. Both teams are 3-0 against district foes, with the winner gaining the upper hand as the six teams approach the midway point in the league season. The defending champion Lady Lions swept Nacogdoches last winter. But this is different season for both Ennis, 13-14 overall, and the Lady Dragons, 16-8. The fire-breathing lizards come to town riding a five-game string of wins. In district action they have whipped Whitehouse, 65-41, Corsicana by a 68-41 count, and then they routed Jacksonville last Friday, 71-17.
