Ennis netters improve to 5-4

Ennis began three-days in Eustace at the Lady Bulldog Tournament on Thursday by winning two of three matches against Class 3A teams. The Lady Lions improved their record to 5-4 heading into action on Saturday in East Texas. Head Coach Kelly Henderson’s young squad began by sweeping Buffalo, 25-22 and 25-20, and then toppled Elkhart, 25-18 and 25-16. Scurry-Rosser (5-1) bested Team Maroon, 25-15 and 25-20. Insiders report the combination of LaDerria Myers and Tiana Murray-Lewis produced some strong swings for kills while transfer player Kayte Walker saw her first action. “Sh really e was a passing machine,” said one, “and that’s something we need.” The Lady Lions shook off a lackluster performance at home on Tuesday when Crandall, 5-3 this season, won easily, 3-1, at the Ensign Gym. Dominating all but the third game, the Lady Pirates won 25-16 and 25-21, fell 25-15, and then bounced back to deliver a 25-15 triumph in the fourth set to even the Lady Lions won-lost record at 3-3.
