Ennis pegged No. 25 in MaxPreps poll


Ennis begins the 2018 football season ranked No. 25 in Texas among Class 5A teams according to Max-Preps. The Lions, defending champions of District 17-5A, went 8-4 a year ago and advanced to the second round of the state playoffs. The team had its fourth consecutive slow start, dropping its first three games. After reeling off seven wins in succession, the Lions routed Waco (6-5), 48-7, in the bi-district round. Cedar Park (11-2) overcame a 14-0 deficit to oust Ennis, 17-14, the following week. The Wolves dominated after the first quarter and finished with a 67-49 advantage in offensive plays.
