Ennis rallies late to oust Temple in series

Andrew Graham and Kade Bragg combined to hold Temple to one run and freshman pinch hitter Clayton Jenkins accounted for all three runs as Ennis rallied to edge the Wildcats, 3-1, on Saturday in Belton. The victory gave the Lions a 2-1 win in the best-of-three playoff series and advanced them to this week’s area round against Georgetown. Ennis opened the three games with a 2-0 triumph on Friday at Brock High School (west of Weatherford), then fell by the same score when Temple (17-15) scored twice in the sixth to even the series at a game apiece on Saturday. Meanwhile, No. 6 ranked Georgetown (27-7-1) swept Brenham (20-13-1) in a pair of one-run affairs, 5-4 and 1-0. The Lions, now 18-9, will travel 147 miles to Georgetown on Friday for Game One at 7 p.m. against the Eagles. Game Two is slated for 1 p.m. in Ennis on Saturday, where a decisive Game Three, if needed, will begin 30 minutes afterwards. Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News.
