Ennis soccer teams split matchups with Skyline

Esparza, Bell combine for goal and shutout. Powered by a goal from Jazmin Esparza, which came on a free kick laser, the Ennis girls edged Dallas Skyline, 1-0, on Saturday to finish the annual 287 Tournament with a 2-1 record. The match was played at Lumpkins Stadium in Waxahachie. Following a scoreless first half in which both teams exchanged scoring opportunities, Jazmin, a junior forward, delivered the game’s lone goal on a perfectly placed strike from outside the box. It was her third goal of the young season. Sarah Bell, the goal keeper, pitched a shutout, which gave the Lady Lions third place in the tourney. Ennis will return to the pitch this weekend when they venture to Joshua for another tournament. Read this story and more in your Weekday edition of The Ennis News. Be informed, subscribe today!
