Ennis tennis crushes Corsicana, 16-3

A well-balanced combination of booming serves, lethal ground strokes and beast-mode play at the net led Ennis to a District 14-5A opening, 16-3, fall season victory over Corsicana on Tuesday at the Ennis Tennis Center. The official team count in wins was astoundingly not close at all. With the victory Ennis pushed their winning streak in district match play to 57 straight without a loss in team tennis. Doubles action saw the Lion netters taking 6 out of the 7 matches. The marathon encounter of the day was a grueling two-hour bout in the No. 2 girls doubles competition. They split the first two sets, 7-6 Ennis, then 6-4 Corsicana. They finished with an entertainingly long tie-breaker which ended well for the Lady Lions. Then came singles play where the Lions domination continued. They took 10 of 12 solo matches for the 16-3 final count. Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News.
