Ennis tennis falls to No. 8 Aledo, 12-7

Aledo hosted and upended Ennis, 12-7, in a season opening clash of state ranked Class 5A tennis programs on Tuesday. The Lions were No. 2 in Region III behind A&M Consolidated while the Bearcats had the No. 4 tag in the very tough Region I. Overall, Aledo was No. 8 in the state, ten spots ahead of No. 18 Ennis. Considering this edition of Ennis tennis is replacing nine graduates, seven of them top regulars in the lineup, the results were promising. “I was pleased to see where our are players are at this point,” said veteran Head Coach, Keith Howard. “It’s not a rebuilding year (for us). We still have the same expectations as we do every year. Aledo finished No. 8 in the state for a reason. They’re a good team.” Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News. Be informed, subscribe today!
