Ennis vs. Del Valle

When Ennis takes the field at 4,000 seat Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday, all eyes will be on him. Alfred Grear, a 5’9” senior dynamo for Del Valle, has exploded out of the blocks in the first four games for the Cardinals. What he lacks in height he more than makes up for in elusiveness and velocity. While he rushed for just over 500 yards a year ago and only 19 on four carries when the Cards visited Ennis, the speedmerchant erupted for 320 yards and four touchdowns in the team’s first game this season. He has added another 452 yards in the next three games, all against Class 6A competition, and has 11 TDs for the 4-0 Red Birds. Tackling Grear has been akin to nailing Jello to a tree. Not easily done. Read the full story and more in your Weekend edition of The Ennis News. Be informed, subscribe today!
