ESPN 3 to air SAGU football opener

SAGU’s new football head coach will be vaulted into the national spotlight when his first game, scheduled for August 23 in Springfield, Missouri, will be broadcast nationally on ESPN 3. The Lions, 8-3 a year ago, recently announced the resignation of head coach Frank Tristan, who accepted the same position at Western New Mexico, an NCAA Division II school. No replacement has been named, though former Ennis head coach Sam Harrell has been given the title of interim coach. SAGU will meet Evangel University (7-4) in the 2018 season debut. Both the Lions and Crusaders are in the NAIA and are associated with the Assemblies of God denomination. Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News.
