Ferris duo cited in vote of coaches

In what was far from a winning season (7-25), the Ferris boys basketball team still battled well enough to finish in a two-way tie for fourth place in District 17-4A. The Yellowjackets earned a shot at a play-in against Hillsboro (18-12), but came up short, 44-39. First year Head Coach Jerrel Chumley was at the helm of a rebuilding project that was clear during a 1-10 start. A 61-53 win over Class 5A Denison helped turn things around and point to better days ahead. Two players, both underclassmen, performed at a high level to merit inclusion on the First Team: six-foot, sophomore guard DeMarcus Rankin and Matt Nunez, a 6’2, 200-lb junior post player.
