SAGU middle linebacker Landon Jones has been given preseason SAC defensive player of the year, and for the second consecutive year, Lyon College (Ark) kicker-punter Ignacio Gomez became preseason special teams player of the year.
Jones, a 6’1, 215-lb senior from Class 6A Waco Midway, led the SAC with 139 tackles, 76 assisted tackles and 63 solo. He had a single game high of 23.
