Fizzling offense fails Lions defense

A late bid by Ennis to exit the league cellar came up short in a 40-37 home setback on Friday to Lindale. The two teams entered the game tied in last place with 0-4 records. The visiting Eagles assembled an eight point lead in the fourth quarter before Ennis battled back. In the end it was Lindale who salted away the victory from the foul line before Dikeevian “Bubba” Grimes launched a three-ball at the buzzer to close the scoring. “We had some problems scoring in the second half,” admitted Lions Head Coach Byron Northrup. “We weren’t patient and forced bad shots, though I thought we played very good defense.” Ennis was only outscored in one quarter, but the 10-4 deficit in the second proved too much for the Lions.
