Horn works to restore ‘Glad’ to Gladiators


Italy ISD Superintendent Lee Joffre reeled in Craig Horn as the Gladiators new head coach, and with a stellar career resume of 101-28 (.783), including a 28-2 combined mark in 2016 and 2017 at Class 2A Tenaha, it could go down as a coup on the part of the bearded Supt. Italy, who went 5-6 last fall after consecutive 6-5 seasons, isn’t a hanging boot in the Mediterranean. The Old Gold return six starters on both offense and defense, though Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine picked them to finish third in District 8-2A behind Bosqueville (7-6) and Riesel (5-6).
