Jackets rush for 503, sting Venus, 69-6

Ferris wasted little time in forcing their will on a Venus team that brought a 1-6 mark into the game. The Yellow-jackets pummeled the Bulldogs early, 27-0 in the first quarter, and led 48-6 at the half, before coasting to a 69-6 cakewalk. The Jackets had three runners surpass the century mark on a night when they amassed 503 yards at 12.6 per pop. Six different players scored their nine rushing TDs. So thoroughly did they dominate that senior halfback Damian Edwards retired for the night after just three runs, gaining 120 yards and scoring each time. He has 1,155 and 15 TDs through 8 games. QB Kobe Lankford had 115 yards on the ground and completed 5-of-10 for another 152 and one TD. Davontae Williams picked up 106, sophomore Nate Aguinaga and freshman Kayden Barnes had 73 yards apiece. It was that kind of night as the Stingers (5-3) clinched a playoff berth. Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News. Be informed, subscribe today!
