Kilpatrick prods team to finish 10-0

Lady Lions head coach David Kilpatrick looks and claps as his team prevails over Corsicana. Ennis varsity girls basketball, currently 6-0 in District 17-5A excluding their Friday home encounter with Lindale, hope to avoid a late slip up like they had a year ago. The Lady Lions were 6-0 headed into the Eagles nest when they were outscored in the second half, 33-20. Lindale won, 55-43, a league setback that prevented Team Maroon from running the table. Their 9-1 mark didn’t sit well with some returning players. Head coach David Kilpatrick hasn’t said so publicly, but going 10-0 surely is a team goal. Following Friday night’s clash with Lindale, his troops take to the road twice next week – Tuesday at Whitehouse, and against Nacogdoches (17-9 record) on Friday. A sweep would clinch the district before their home finale on Feb. 6 versus Jacksonville. Read this story and more in your Weekend edition of The Ennis News. Be informed, subscribe today!
