Lady Lions prepare to host No. 12 ‘Hachie

Puffed out like canvas in a sail, the S.S. Goodship Ennis is about to leave port having readied their battleship for the open waters and district encounters. The defending District 17-5A champions, 24-9 last year, defeated Class 6A John Tyler, 63-51, in the opener of the 24-team Arlington Classic on Thursday. Now 7-4, coach David Kilpatrick’s squad was scheduled to face Arlington Martin on Friday and then begin bracket play that night. They play or twice on Saturday. Ennis plays host to No. 12 ranked Waxahachie (5-2) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
