The ongoing challenge of winning close games for the Ennis girls basketball team continued

on Monday afternoon. A single-digit deficit in the fourth quarter became the team’s sixth loss

by 10-points or less in a 61-52 defeat at the hands of Red Oak.

Now 4-11 overall and 0-5 in District 14-5A, Ennis’ narrow setbacks have piled up and threaten

to bury the team’s chances of competing for a winning record this winter.

In a battle of junior guards, the Lady Lions Kiara Glenn limited Red Oak point guard Madison

Washington to three baskets and 10 points through three quarters. Clinging to a 41-36 lead

heading into the fourth period, Washington busted loose.

“Kiara did a great job of holding her in check,” said Ennis head coach David Kilpatrick, “but

she got hot in the fourth. That was the difference in the game.”
