Lions football pegged as regional finalist

The Ennis Lions football team runs out of the inflatable “E” with American flags during the 2017 Sept. 8 football game, played two days before the anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The 2018 edition of the Lions are picked by Dave Campbell’s to go to the regional finals. Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine, considered the football Bible, calls the newly aligned District 8-5A, which includes Ennis, Corsicana and Kaufman, as intriguing and one of the top three in the state to watch. The 400-page 59th edition, available for $11 on newsstands now, has new Texas A&M coach Jim Fisher on the cover. Inside the annual top-seller is a breakdown of each district in each class, and they also feature their own Top 20 in both Division I and the Top 20 in Division II. These teams are mixed for district play with the top four teams in each district qualifying for the playoffs. Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News.
