Lions host ‘Hachie in season kickoff

Waxahachie at Ennis is the 2018 football season opener. In the spirit of cutting to the chase, the arch-rivals with 100 years of gridiron encounters will meet on Friday, August 31. For the first time in 15 years the game will pit the Lions and Indians in Week One. Back on Sept. 5, 2003, Team Maroon routed the Tribe, 55-17, at Lumpkins Stadium. They also met in 2002, with Ennis prevailing at home, 21-6. Head Coach Jack Alvarez and the Oval E’s will get the Indians in their debut under new head coach Todd Alexander. It will mark the beginning of the eighth campaign for Alvarez. He is second in school history in coaching victories and totes a 60-26 record (.698) in Ennis with six consecutive playoff berths.
