Lions host Whitehouse Thursday

Jarron Honza on the mound. After squandering a golden opportunity on the road Monday in a 3-2 loss in eight innings at state ranked Whitehouse, Ennis returns home to host the Wildcats at 7 p.m. on Thursday. It is an early season showdown between the two contenders, with right hander Jarron Honza (2-0) the likely starter for Ennis (10-4). Whitehouse (13-3) is tied with Lindale (13-4-1) and Corsicana (9-5) for first in District 17-5A after the first of ten league games. The trio are knotted at 1-0. Nacogdoches (10-8), Jacksonville (8-7) and Ennis (10-4) are all 0-1. The teams all moved up their Tuesday game to Monday to avoid the expected rain showers, then did the same with Friday’s home tilt.
