Lions, Manuel 6-shooter gun down Waco, 70-58

Leading start-to-finish, Ennis and senior guard Zion Manuel were too much for University High School on Tuesday. The Lions solidified their hold on third place by staving off the Trojans comeback bid in the fourth quarter. Head Coach Roynall Bridgeforth and his Court ‘Cats took to the road to improve their record in all games to 9-18 and their ledger in District 14-5A to 6-3. They trail No. 14 Red Oak by three games and Midlothian by two. The Lions hosted Cleburne (9-21) last night. A win would have swept the season series. Tuesday, Feb. 5, Team Maroon is at Midlothian (19-9). The Panthers won in Ennis last month, 63-60, in OT. Joshua (12-18) comes to town next Friday, Feb. 8, for an early (6:30 p.m.) starting time. Ennis won in Joshua on Jan. 15, 70-65. Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News. Be informed, subscribe today!
