Lions soccer clinch playoff berth

Despite a few less than desirable results of late, the Ennis boys soccer team has clinched a playoff spot in District 14-5A with one match remaining. Kyle Taylor, the head coach, has the Lions (12-8-3) positioned for a shot at second place, which a victory at Corsicana on March 22 would help. They are currently knotted with Joshua (10-7-6) with 5-3-3 marks in district action. The Owls also close against Corsicana (5-8-4), on March 19. The Lions have a pair of draws, 2-2 and 1-1, in their meetings with Joshua, the last coming a week ago when the Owls, who were outplayed and held to a single shot on goal, scored on a penalty kick to avoid a setback.
