McDonald scores thrice, Ennis wins 3-2

Seniors Kademon Graff (left) and Chris McDonald contributed in all three Ennis runs during Friday’s 3-2 win over Nacogdoches. Centerfielder Chris McDonald tripled and scored on a passed ball to lead Ennis to a 3-2 victory over visiting Nacogdoches (10-15, 0-8) on Friday night. The senior went 3-for-3 at the plate and scored all three runs for Lions, who moved into a third place tie with Whitehouse (19-6, 5-3) with one week left in the regular season. Ennis, now 15-7 overall and 5-3 in District 17-5A, could clinch second or third this week or wind up in fourth. They hosted first-place Corsicana (17-5-1, 8-0) on Tuesday, April 24, and wrap-up their schedule with a trip to ‘Cana on Friday. The Tigers entered the week just one win away from claiming the district title. Head Coach Bob Macy indicated that southpaw Kade Bragg would start on Tuesday with righthander Jarron Honza getting the nod on Friday. The Bi-District first round of the playoffs is next week, with the University Interscholastic League date for completion set for May 5.
