Motorplex preps for weekend

Test-n-tune, diesel pipes bulging and track championship points on the line… oh my! Texas Motorplex is heating up this weekend with three consecutive events that will have racers and fans alike grinning all week.

The first Fast Friday of the season – a test-n-tune open to racers of all experience levels – kicks off the busy weekend when gates open at 6 p.m. Fast Friday allows drivers a chance to fulfill their “need for speed” in a safer environment, tune their hot rod for an upcoming event, or just try a unique and thrilling driving experience on the famous Texas Motorplex quarter-mile.

If you are a licensed driver with a street legal car, you can race at the Motorplex on Friday.

Once racers get their rides tuned up, they will have two chances to win trophies and other prizes throughout the weekend.

The NHRDA Texas Diesel Nationals will be held on Saturday and the second of 15 Texas Motorplex Bracket Racing series events will be held Sunday.

Gates open at 9 a.m. Saturday for the Diesel Nationals as the region’s diesels thunder down the Motorplex concrete jungle. There is more than just racing during this fan favorite event.

Soulman’s Bar-B-Que will be on hand to delight the taste buds of fans and racers along with burnout contests, car show, jet trucks and more. Every ticket includes a pit pass and tickets are just $15 for adults 13 and older. Youth 12 and under are free!

Once the diesels have crowned champions and vacated the premises, Texas Motorplex bracket racers will be taking over for the second of 15 events on the 2011 schedule. Adult tickets are just $10, youth tickets are just $5 and kids 5 and under are free.

The 2011 Texas Motorplex bracket racing series features the region’s best racers from the Jr. Dragster ranks all the way to Electronics, No Electronics, Extreme Street and more.
