No. 1 Runnin’ Indians fall to Chicago team

Waxahachie battled neck-and-neck with national power Chicago Simeon before fading in the fourth quarter during a 66-59 setback at a boys basketball tournament, National Hoop-Fest, that drew top teams from Texas and some from out-of-state. Simeon, now 6-0 and ranked No. 1 in Illinois, took a 49-48 lead into the fourth quarter. The Wolverines defense clamped down on the Indians (11-3), outscoring them 17-11 in the final eight minutes. Waxahachie also didn’t shoot well on the foul line in the clutch. Waxahachie, ranked No. 1 among Class 5A teams in Texas, have seen a dramatic turnaround since Greg Gober was named their new head coach a year ago.
