Padron, Newton combo ignites Orange


Miguel Padron rushed for 105 yards on 11 carries, scored four touchdowns and threw a 6-yard strike to tight end Bryan Faber and a 10-yarder to Noe Hernandez to power Avalon (4-1) to a 55-12 road win over Trinidad. The Eagles led 29-6 at halftime. Rhett Newton added 107 ground yards on only 10 carries as the Orange dominated with 440 yards. They held the Trojans to 204. Both juniors, Padron and Newton each have 354 yards rushing through five games, with Padron (23-of-33) passing for 353 and 7 TDs. Avalon entertains Oakwood (2-3) on Friday. The Panthers score 43 ppg.
