Palmer defense good as gold in 39-0 win

Responding after a tough, 22-14 loss to first place Edgewood (7-0), head coach Don Waddle’s Palmer (5-2) team, especially the defense, rose up and trounced Scurry-Rosser, 39-0, last Friday. The Bulldogs chomped down on a bid for third place behind Edgewood and Buffalo (8-0), who meet this week. Led by DE Austin Hernandez, DT Caleb Hernandez and LB Jay Berumen, the Hounds forced the Wildcats without a first down on their first five possessions.QB Adrian Cisneros ran for one score and passed to Dylan Villasenor for another for a 15-0 lead that was never threatened. A wide receiver reverse to Villasenor turned into a 77-yard scoring bomb to tight end Ben Waddle, who was sailing along the right sideline, for a 23-0 advantage at recess.
