Palmer has tall order in No. 5 Westwood

Dylan Villasenor (4) sinks a game-winning runner to break a last minute tie with Corsicana Mildred in a 47-44 victory on Jan. 26. An up-and-down boys basketball season ended with Palmer earning a playoff berth for the second time in head coach Ryan Fortenberry’s six years. Going 4-6 down the stretch, the Bulldogs still secured the fourth place position in District 17-3A with a 6-8 mark. Grandview (13-1), Maypearl (14-2) and Rice (10-4) took the first three spot in the eight-team league. Sporting a 15-16 record, Palmer will have quite the first round wake up call at 6 p.m. on Tuesday when they meet No. 5 ranked Palestine Westwood (31-3) in Mabank. That would be a mighty tall order for most, but Fortenberry begs to differ. Read stories like this and more in your Weekend edition of The Ennis News. Be informed, subscribe today!
