Perfect Lions prep for playoff matchup

Playing their best at the right time of the season, Ennis (20-14) takes a 12-game winning streak to Crockett on Monday for a 7 p.m. bi-district clash with College Station (12-21) The single-game playoff will take place 125 miles southeast of Ennis at the Andrew Hopkins Gymnasium, a small domed facility on the campus of Class 3A Crockett H.S. at 1600 SW Loop 304. The Lady Lions completed the regular season on Tuesday with a 60-22 rout of Jacksonville (15-18). By winning on Senior Night, Nokoia White, Kayla Anderson, Zacharia Story and Monique Clemons capped their home career with a 10-0 record in District 17-5A, their second league title in a row. Head Coach David Kilpatrick led the squad through a highly competitive non-district season that included 12 Class 6A opponents (Ennis went 5-7). College Station, who finished fourth in District 18-5A, mirrors the Lady Lions in several ways. They like an up-tempo brand of offense and they play a man-to-man defense that applies plenty of pressure. Read this story and more in your Weekend edition of The Ennis News.
