Previewing the Lions’ season opener

Two legitimate powers meet for the ninth time (the Lions lead the series, 7-1) at Lion Memorial Stadium on Friday. A year Ennis topped SOC at Kincaide Stadium, 30-20. The Lions ran the ball well and built a 21-6 halftime lead. The Bears found their success through the air was offset by four interceptions. Kevion Gabriel had a game-clinching 45-yard pick-six in the closing minutes. Ennis won District 17-5A and finished 7-4 while the Golden Bears recovered from an 0-3 start to claim the District 11-5A crown en route to a 9-4 season.
