SAC adds 10 NAIA teams

Southwestern Assemblies of God University and the remaining members of the Central States Football Conference, which began in 2000 as a one-sport league affiliated with the NAIA, will become the fifteenth sport of the Sooner Athletic Conference this fall. Many of the football teams were already competing in the SAC, who decided to sponsor football starting with the 2018 fall season. The CSFL, which has had members from seven states (Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Arizona, Missouri, Nebraska and Kansas), has officially been absorbed into the Sooner, which is nearing 40 years of existence. The SAC has set itself apart by winning more NAIA national championships than any other conference. By adding football, “the SAC will take its quest for national prominence to the gridiron” said a statement from a conference press release. The tradition rich league, now set to play football, is already considered the premier conference in the 250-member NAIA. Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News.
