State-bound Palmer herds Buffalo, 40-27

Palmer High School has qualified for the state 7-on-7 flag football tournament by rolling to four straight wins over the weekend. The Bulldogs are now 7-1 in back-to-back events and are currently one of 12 teams who have earned their way to the June 27-29 state event in College Station. Palmer has now punched their ticket to state in two years running. The ‘Dogs routed Ore City, 34-14, and Arp, 44-6, then defeated Waskom in a 40-26 verdict. Facing Buffalo, whose Bison went 12-1 in 11-man football last fall, Palmer won the title with a 40-27 triumph. Quarterback Adrian Cisneros, who will be a senior in September, is a catalyst for the canines. The Bulldogs, who carry a roster of 15, have joined eleven other Division III teams that are bound for state: Arp, Ballinger, Bremond, Comfort, Dublin, Falls City, Hamilton, Hearne, Palmer, Tidehaven, Van Horn and Wellington. There are 19 teams who have qualified for state in Division II: Boerne, Brock, Burnet, Celina, China Spring, Graham, Houston Worthing, Longview Spring Hill, Marion, McGregor, Pleasanton, Sunnyvale, Sweeny, Texarkana Pleasant Grove, Waco Connally, Waco LaVega, West Columbia, Wichita Falls Hirschi and Wimberley. As for the largest, Division I, with 25 teams: Arlington Bowie, Arlington Lamar, Cedar Park Vista Ridge, Clear Springs, Cypress Bridgeland, Flower Mound Marcus, Fort Bend Ridge Point, Fort Bend Travis, Frisco Lone Star, Hutto, Katy, Klein Cain, Lake Travis, Laredo United, Lewisville Hebron, Lovejoy, Lubbock Coronado, Lufkin, Midland Christian, Midlothian, Mission, Mission Pioneer, Rockwall, Round Rock and Southlake Carroll.
